Marty: it *so* is!
Last night we had torrential rain All Night Long, I was expecting to go out and find puddles everywhere. The peat moss is amazing.

Hi Marty, I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on this stuff vs. Peat Moss -- it's 100% coconut coir -- it's called "Beats Peat" -- do you think this would that be okay to use like peat moss for puddle sopping? (it's still raining here and it's almost June).
Here's the write up on HomeDepot.com's website, the link is below. THANKS!! Improve your yard or outdoor area with the PlantBest, Inc. Beats Peat Soil Amendment. Wow! I like the concept--a sustainable by-product of coconut production, ph neutral. What's not to like?

Me too! I just want to make sure it's alpaca-safe to use.

I don't know anything about this but sure sounds interesting.. I have been noticing that we (humans) are now drinking coconut water and it is supposed to be SOOOO good for you.

Thanks so much, Marty. That's what I was thinking too, but in terms of using it, say on a poop strip, to sop up (the seemingly neverending) rain, the way I've been using the peat moss (again, thank you, it's been a lifesaver), seems like it would be alright, being that it's all natural.
So if they walk on it (or ingested some of it), it seems like it would be even better for them than the peat. Have to love that. Might just have to give it a whirl.

Hi at all,
I use stone dust, or here called stone flour as fertilizer for my pastures. It does work good and it´s all natural. I have seen on the water problems, that people here use a green carpet, it is made for balconies and porches( it has little pimples underneath) when it get´s muddy and wet. At least the intensive walked areas like barn entrance and feeding station are decorated with carpets. Doesn´t look good after a few weeks of rain but it keeps the toes better clean and they have less probless with infections between the toes. Uta |
