I have sold two alpacas, one three year old and her one year old daughter to someone with a lonely female 2 year old llama. The llama's companion died about a year ago. The adult alpaca hates the llama, but her daughter quite likes her. In consequence there have been quite a lot of nasty 'does' between the llama and the alpaca. I'm going to take over a very sensible companion male alpaca tomorrow to see if he can calm the situation down, but if he doesn't I think I am going to have to replace the adult alpaca...

Any ideas gratefully received.

HI, How long has it been? If it hasn't been a few weeks you might see if they can work things out. Sometimes it takes a while. Usually they will work it out. Is the person separating them when they fight if so it could be making things worse. Because each time they get back together they have to start over! Perhaps more room, widely placing the feeders, waterers and hay, making sure there is more than one place for shade and water.
Hope that helps. marty
