My 18 month old alpaca wether leads well but trips up on obstacles. I have worked him in the labyrinth on a weekly basis for months and have added cavalettii. After practise he will pick up his feet on the known obstacles but not when he meets anything new,like climbing onto a wooden boardwalk placed on the ground or over a fallen small tree trunk. The other 2 wethers manage not to trip. Any ideas about how to get him to get over obstacles smoothly? I have cut his fringe so he is able to see. His movement in the paddock including running is good.
