Marty: I rescued three llamas in September of last year. Only two survived.... One of my rescue llamas has wool that can be "plucked" from his body. He is the only llama of 7 whose wool can be plucked. Is this normal?

It is totally normal. I used to sell a wool plucker but the kind of llamas that shed are not being bred for anymore and they stopped making it so no more plucker. Anything that grabs the pluck-a-able wool without pulling on the guard hair that doesn't come out would be appropriate and my bottom line is if the animal says it is ok then I do it if not I don't. Any wide toothed implement will work although curved teeth are better. The kind of thing that dog people use for matts is what you want.
