I have read some of your articles and have a few of your videos.* You discuss a product called Rescue Remedy.* Is this the same stuff that you* can buy at the health food store for human consumption?* How do you use it with animals?* And what type of sedative do you use?* We are getting close to shearing time and I would like to keep our animals calm during the process.

It is the very same. I like to put a few drops in a spray bottle mix it with water and spray it around the head rather than trying to put it in the mouth. For shearing talk to your vet about torbugesic aka butorphenol. It is a fabulous sedative and is very safe even for pregnant females.

On Marty's recommendation, we used Rescue Remedy (bought from our organic store) on all but two of our alpacas at shearing time. The bottle came with a dropper and the alpacas took it easily by mouth about 20 minutes before their "turn" and were, without doubt, noticeably calmer as a result. The final two had real stress probems and we used torbugesic ... a godsend.
